IT Asset Management
IT asset management optimizes the use and deployment of those assets, using a total-cost-of-ownership (TCO) approach when making IT investment decisions. Daston has the expertise and experience to develop an Asset Management Plan to manage an organization's infrastructure and to drive mission achievement.
Daston facilitates regular monitoring of the performance of an asset management plan which helps in determining the effectiveness of the plan. Assets should provide some measure of benefits that can be measured or explained. The asset management plan provides the justification usually translated into a monetary figure and reflected in TCO.
Asset Management at TSA
Daston has helped Transportation Service Administration (TSA) provide property management support service. The work consisted of managing a database with 60,000 assets spread out over 460 airport locations with access by more than 300 users. The user rights were limited only to the airports in their region and also the appropriate database viewing privileges were restricted and controlled by administrators.
Daston staff worked with key TSA personnel to develop program objectives and measures for property management. Those measures supported the development of the TSA Accountability and Compliance Audit Program. Daston supported the installation of the DHS Property Management System of Record with Sunflower Assets Management System. Daston also provided inventory support through the use of barcode scanners, and discovered and documented improved performance methods.
