The latest development in the rapidly growing mobile cloud computing market was this week's announcement from NetSuite, releasing the first mobile cloud computing enterprise resource planning (ERP) suite for Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch. The NetSuite application, available for free on the iTunes App store, allows users to access their NetSuite ERP, CRM and ecommerce operational data on the go using NetSuite's cloud computing platform. n particular, customers will be able to access their NetSuite calendar, task lists, leads and opportunities, customers and contacts, quotes and orders, customer history, associated cases, customer-filed issues, financial trends, real-time dashboards, productivity tools such as click-to-call, click-to-email and click-to-map, and key performance indicators. The program will also allow users to generate snapshots and scorecards for this information, and will reflect the company's existing security or dashboard customizations. Mobile computing has been identified as a key area to watch in enterprise cloud computing - ABI Research recently reported that the number of worldwide mobile cloud computing subscribers is expected to reach almost 1 billion by 2014, and to generate annual revenues of more than $20 billion by that same year. |
